Hello TiB,

welcome to the board.

Like the others said, don't rush to get c-cards. Try to get comfortable in the water in all kinds of circumstances.

I have buddies who are Open Water divers but who are better divers than poor old badge collecting me. :nervous:

You said that so much better than I did!

I'm looking at the Beginers workout plan on divefitness.com and it looks really good for me... but...

I don't have any equipment except a tredmile.. treadmill... ARGH! ><'' that thing that makes you run in place! XD Anyoen know things I can do in palce of a leg press, adduction and abduction machine, dumbbell chest press, and clsoe grip lat pulldown that I can do at home? :/

Oh yeah! By the way, I had my first class yesterday! :D!! I was pretty clumsy and didn't do well on the neutral buoyancy... but hey, I'm new :) I did improve on my mask clearings though. Next time I'm wearing my hair back XD I've got long thick hair and it was everywhere. I had a great time

TiB, I'm with Kracken. Just stay fit. I go to the gym (I'm 48) amd it makes a difference.
Don't rush the diving. Enjoy the sights along the way.

I'm glad to see you take up diving
My two oldest kids (15 and 13) dive. I take them out whenever I can and we are not doing advanced diving.
The best thing for you to do is just dive, easy dives, every time you dive it will get easier and you can do a bit more. Practice makes perfect.
Mask removal and replacement is a very important skill and you should try to get comfortable swiming without a mask.
Remember, if you get really nervous or don't feel right on a dive, end it early, don't think that you have to tough it out. There is always another dive.

Good Luck,
Jim

thanks! I'm actully very used to water with and without a mask. The only reason I'd wear a mask is to see... but it makes so difference with how comfortable I am :) Which is a good thing, I guess

p.s. I started my traiing with the streches and ran 2 miles in 27 minutes today :) I feel very refreshed

By the way guys, I just want to say thanks for your warm welcome! and that DiveFitness website was a world of help.
