a little informal poll:

Did any of you listen to cozumelradio.net when we were a streaming station?

and if you we're not aware of us, WOULD you listen to an online streaming radio station playing "beach music" (actually our eclectic music mix was much more then just beach music, but the main thing is that we were being around the island with island ads & community calendars & island stories mixed in?

Yes, I listened frequently and miss it. I even miss the ads (somewhat); made me feel like I was there.

Sharyky,

Is there a spot/station/website where those of us way up north could listen in, or perhaps listen to archived shows...? I'd like to listen to some of the topics you have referred to in previous posts.

Sharyky,

My show currently exists at The Shark Tank radio show YouTube Channel (please subscribe) & on Facebook The Shark Tank radio show facebook. (Please 'like')

For now, until I can get this up and running again, the show is being done in a talk show format. I'm doing small episodes, dive reports and island stories on the Youtube channel.

I hope to continue these and work them into the music format of the station, making the station a very unique place to come and not only keep informed on everything Cozumel topside and underwater, but also keep the very unique and eclectic music mix as well as the Shark Tank once a week where I take the music eclecticness to a whole new level. There really is nothing like it musically out there. We're more diverse than Radio Margaritaville or No Shoes Radio, even though Kenny plays some rap and we don't at all.

The music mix was not only 'island tunes', Jack Johnson, Jimmy Buffett & the like, but positive Reggae, Jimmy Cliff, Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, the Marley kids; 'island country', Zac Brown, Kenny Chesney; classic rock/pop, blues & just about anything we determined sounds good at the beach. The Shark Tank takes all that just a bit further with deeper album cuts, more blues, soul and Motown when I can sneak it in, Theme shows & specials...no rap.

Our website www.cozumelradio.net has been partially updated, but there is not any type of music stream there at all at this point. I hope to have archived shows or some sort of Podcast situation added to the website once we are back up and running.

We had to shut the station down last Spring due to partly my business partner, who started the station, moving off the island, but mostly because music royalty fees were becoming more than what we could generate in income from island businesses.

We simply became a victim of our own success. The more listening hours we had, the more it cost to run the station & we simply couldn't keep up with island income alone. There were several reasons for this, but it is evident to pull this off again I need major sponsorship.

So my plan is to get some corporate sponsorship to cover most of our operating costs and royalty fees, and then hopefully we will be able to offer advertising space on the website and new streaming station at a very reasonable price to business on the island.

Which brings me to if you are, or work for a major company we are looking for you! Particularly business that have product that is related to Cozumel or 'island life': ie.: Sun Lotions, beach wear, sunglasses, beer/liquor (tequila), flip flops, cruise lines, etc. ...but I'm sure there are avenues I've haven't thought of for this as well.

If you are in advertising or marketing and would like to help me out, I could use some advise on landing some of this. This sort of thing is not my forte, even though I'm about the biggest self-promoter you ever met, I would appreciate any tips that could come my way. Contact me either through at PM here or e-mail me at CozSharkTank@att.net
