I use a Sherwood Tortuga, but I find that when wet, the padding in the back weighs a ton. This makes it harder to move topside once my gear is on. On a recent trip, in 5 foot seas on a small launch, I found it tough to stay in a pre-dive position on the gunnel of the boat.

My question is, are the harnesses such as Qxycheq O-Pac lighter? Just looking at one on the web, it looks like they have a large amount of padding in the lumbar region.

Thanks,

Stan

Why not just get rid of all the padding? Not only does it get water-logged, but it takes extra # to sink it. A simple hog harness is not uncomfortable at all with even a small wetsuit (3mm, haven't tried it with anything less). 23 shore dives in 6 days in Bonaire in a hog rig, and my shoulders were just fine. Also very stable, as the whole rig feels glued to your back. Something to consider.

Agree - try it without the padding
