Hello Everybody!!
Just a quick question for anybody that can answer. I am looking at buying a BP/W from one of my LDS in the area. I am interested in purchase a BP/W with a 30 or 40 Ibs. wing for single tank use. I am looking at the "Big 3" (OMS, Dive Rite, Halcyon) and am interested if anybody can tell me the pro's and con's about the different systems or are they all pretty much the same and I shoud just look at price.
Thanks

The only major difference will be in the wing. The Halcyons will be donuts, the other two horseshoe wings. To me, it was important. To other's, maybe not so much. Eventually I went with Halcyon, but products from other manufacturers are also very good.

I own both Dive Rite and Halcyon wings. Personally, I feel that the Halcyon has better trim characteristics than my D-R Classic and it has less problems with dumping/air trapping than my Rec wings. No personal experience with OMS, but not overly impressed by the one's I've seen.

i ended up buying two DiveRite plates and two Halcyon wings

Why do you consider those the "Big 3"? Personally, I'd put DSS right up there with them. Many will also argue that Oxycheq also belongs there.

The OMS single isn't a horseshoe... it's an oval or donut.

Really? Since when? To be fair, I didn't look at their single wings at NACD last fall. I was busy checking out the L.G. doubles wing.

I think it changed within the last year or so. I have one that is several years old and it is a horseshoe. The newer one is about a year old and it is an oval. There are probably a lot of older ones still in stock or on store shelves... so you might want to look at it close to be sure what you are getting. Not "you"... but whomever is looking.

Sorry about that!! When I mentioned the "Big 3" I should have said the 3 companies I can purchase from. If I could! I would also look at purchasing Oxycheq or DSS products also (I hear they have excellent products).

You should look at the Golem Gear single as well.
