I am new to this forum and desperately need assistance. My finace is taking up diving and i would like to buy a BCD/Regulator combo for her. Only problem is I am form the old school using my old Conshelf-14 and a bit out of touch with the new products we have on the market. My fiance agree to give up the engagement diamond ring in return for the BCD/Reg set. The local dive store here stock Scuba Pro,Tusa, Mares & Sherwood.

There is a promotion on ScubaPro Mk2/R190 Reg & Glide500 BCD. Are these reasonable equipment bearing in mind, we expect to dive probably once a week in no more that 60ft depth (tropical & temperate waters).

Would you recomend something else and what would it be?

If you can swing the cost, I would step up to a Mk16/R380 from scuba pro and get the R190 as an octo. I have the R380 as an octo on my Mk25 first stage and it breathes extremely well.....I think as well as my S600 Primary. Also, I am not positive, but I think the Mk16 first stage is environmentally sealed so they will be better in colder water.

Though some will disagree, you might also want to check out websites such as www.diveinn.com I got an Apeks Atx40 with Atx40 Octo for $230 shipped to my door from Spain. That was an exceptional deal but you may stumble upon a deal like that if you are patient.

I just did a little research at Dive Inn. The ATX 40 combo is $383.16 USD, the M16/R380/R190 is $296.54 and the Mk16/R380/R380 is $322.36. I think all three would be excellent first reg sets and would allow for more than enough growing room.

Can't go wrong with the MK16 and the R380. I use the R380 as an octo to my MK25 as well, and it breathes just as easy for me as my S600.
