Hello all, just dropping a line to introduce myself .

I am new to the sport and live near the coast of north east England. I have just registered on an OW course and have been reading up loads in the manual and this board, but unfortuntely can't get in the pool yet because I had high blood pressure 12 years ago and my GP doesn't do the medical forms as they apparently lack a piece of equipment. Anyway, just looks like I will be reading alot until I can find a private doctor to carry out the examination! :(

Welcome to the board. Keep pestering your docs until you get the forms signed. It is worth it. Diving is great.

I would if I were actually allowed to speak to a doctor rather than a receptionist who doesn't understand.

Can anyone who has had to get a doctor to sign them fit to dive, exactly what it involves - ie is it a full physical medical examination or just a check against whatever you have answered yes to in your medical history on the form?
