Hello everybody,

I am Aleksi Ilmonen, a new Gue rec instructor from Finland. I've been tech diving and teaching padi and ssi courses for six years now and recently changed agencies.

I love diving wrecks, mines and caves or just about anywhere with good friends. Dive travel is also great and I try to travel as much as I can.

Welcome to :sblogo: , Aleksi! I'm always happy to see another GUE instructor here -- this is a great place to improve public relations for the organization.

Thanks Lynne!

Since I'm the first one in Finland I have a fair bit of PR work and community building to do. I would love to get some pointers from people with experience of these thing, like you.

Also, it would be fun visiting you guys in California some day :)

Hi Aleksi,

Welcome to Scubaboard! I hope you do visit our GUE community in the San Francisco California area :).

Have you found the Scubaboard DIR forum?

Well, I'm in Washington, not California, but we're fun to visit, too . . .

Great :) I've got a few good friends in LA, San Diego and Seattle who I really should visit. I'll look you guys up when I do.

Hi Aleksi!

Any chance knowing a fellow countryman & GUE Diver named Juha Makinen?

A great underwater photograper, he took all these pictures during our Truk Trip 2007 on the Odyssey Liveaboard . . .

Say Hi for me, or look him up as a potential dive buddy. . .

Hi Kev,

Julle lives in Switzerland these days. I've met him once in a dive seminar but do not know him that well. Maybe he'll be in the GUE conference in Germany this fall.

Great pictures from Truk! I want to make another trip there as well :) There are so many places to go to!
