Thanks for the P-38 link. Ill post on our IL-2 Sturmovick flightsim forum. Thats a neat find the Gilldiver
 
I spoke with one of the guys that did the P-38 recovery - it was very complicated. Besides being down over 200' the air temp was 29F with lots of water and the ice was full of 110 octane gas. They tried to use drysuits to keep warm but the gas kept melting the rubber in the suits.
