i went with scubawolrld they were pretty good cant complain th e staff were very helpful and up beat- id recommend its an easy dive AOW with plenty of light no lines needed - they have a tech dive day on saturdays any day outside of that is no deco diving but its only 26m deep so not a big deal

We dived the North Solitary islands with DiveQuest Mullaway (www.divequest.com.au) in September and were very happy divers. The dive shop has accommodation, but we did not use it that trip. Although my partner is planning to go back in January for a week and stay at the shop (school teachers get far too many holidays). When we checked in for the first days diving, I was a little worried as we were the only divers, but the shops attitude is that if we booked they were taking us diving. So off we went, for a great days diving. Mullaway itself is very quiet ( one shop that we saw) and is only about 30-35 mins drive North of Coffs Harbour

South West Rocks Dive Centre is also well worth the stop, with a well run operation. We stayed at the shop and were quite happy with the accommodation and the diving.

Staff at both dive centres could not do enough for us.

There are two operators Sunreef (Sunreef :: Home) and Scubaworld (Scuba World, Mooloolaba, Sunshine Coast).

Both run slightly different trips, Sunreef will stay on site for the surface interval, while Scubaworld comes back to the river.

I like the idea that Scubaworld will run no mater on the number of divers, but as I dive with a club we always fill a boat. We dive with Sunreef probably because they give us a very good deal.

Sunreef has a Nitrox membrane system and for our trips there is no extra charge for Nitrox. For those that weren't Nitrox certified they offered an very reasonably priced 'instant' course.

Thanks for the replies regarding HMAS Brisbane.

My dive days there will be on a Thursday and Friday prior to flying out of Brisbane on Saturday night.

Nice to know there are options.
