No burglaries or petty theft? No room invasion robbery? Wow, that's kind of surprising.;)

I'm also surprised that you didn't like the food--I am usually pretty happy with the restaurant fare there. Which restaurants did you dine at?

We ate twice at the "Lion's Den" at Buddys and at "It Rains Fishes" downtown on the waterfront. The service was very good, the ambiance and views were the best, the food was fair-to-good, and the prices were high.

I have been told there are many good restaurants there and I'm sure that is true.

Our best dinner was cooked by Katy in the room, Pan-Seared Entrecote with Sauteed Mushrooms and Wine Sauce, with steamed Cauliflower. Delicious, simple, elegant, and cheap.

Dive Maven,

When in July will you be going, and where will you be staying? I am part of a large group that will be there around that time. And, reading all these threads, appears that ScubaBoard will be Invading Bonaire the end of June/beginning of July. :D

We'll be on Bonaire the first two weeks of July (3rd-17th) and staying at Den Laman (again). We've met up with SB folks on our last two trips to Bonaire, for a drink, dinner, and/or a dive or two and have really enjoyed doing that. Is your group staying at Buddy?

Some of our group will be there for two weeks, starting June 26th. I will arrive for the second week, July 3rd. We'll be staying at the Plaza. Hope to hook up with you, let's get in touch closer to the date.

I was going to make a post along the lines of "what high prices, don't you ever eat out in San Diego?", but after hearing of the two restaurants you chose, I'm less surprised. They're probably the two priciest restaurants on the island as far as value goes. Still, when you convert to dollars, even those places aren't really a very expensive night out compared to equal establishments in the States. I'm not sure if people travel to the Caribbean and expect a bargain like you might get in some countries, but compared to islands like Grand Cayman, and considering the difficulty of procuring supplies, I've always found Bonaire dining quite reasonable. Try Casablanca next time, or the blackboard dinner special at Mona Lisa, you'll be amazed at the bang for the buck.

I can't wait to go. We'll be there March 27th for the first time.

We are putting together a late September trip! If anyone is interested please let me know! I will be doing a digital Photo class for anyone in our group! Come join the fun with our rowdy group!

Late September in Bonaire? That's a dicey time with wind reversals.
