Hey Everybody,

This past February I took a scuba course, but because I live way up here in Canada I didn't do my open water dives right away because all the lakes were frozen. Lucky for me, my family planned a vacation to Florida and a Western Caribbean Cruise which stops in Cozumel. So, I plan on finishing my certification down in the Keys before our cruise, and then doing a couple dives in Cozumel while we're there. So, here's my questions... my dive instructor recommended Blue Angel, but I was wondering what you all think is the best bang for your buck out of the dive operations? And if I make a reservation, will they pick up right where the cruise ship is docked? And furthermore, what are your favorite dives? Thanks for the help!

Dallas,

I have done a few dives with Blue Angel and they were fantastic. My LDS uses them on all of their Cozumel trips and my experience with them was very good. I was a little hesitant when I first saw their shop (I hear they have renovated since). I had a good scare on my first dive across the channel in Playa Del Carmen with Barrakuda Scuba. It was my first ocean dive and one of the divers ended up in the chamber and I considered canceling any further diving on my vacation. Blue Angel was their "sister" shop for Cozumel and I am so glad I didn't cancel. The DM was outstanding. I was very new and use a lot of air and ended up buddy breathing with the DM for several minutes during both dives. The other divers on the trip were from Spain, Portugal, and Denmark. Believe it or not the DM spoke English, Spanish(no surpise), Portugese, and Danish. He also spoke a little German and French to the Danish guy. Just like the dive shop no way you would I have ever imagined that. Bottom line it is a very professional organization. Like the old saying goes never judge a book by it's cover. I would highly recommend Blue Angel.
