Hey folks,

My friend Konrad and I have put the request through for a Scuba Club here at Suffolk University in Boston. We're looking for a local LDS to help us out. If you know of any that may be willing to help or if you're working for/own a dive shop and you're interested, please let me know.

The basic idea is that we want to offer a discover scuba class not only for Suffolk students, but also reach out to the community and give the inner city kids a chance to do this as well. I feel as though it will give the university and the dive shop positive press. If the interest level is there and people seem to be responding positively to this, we would also like to offer certification classes for the demographics mentioned above. Financing can be discussed through PM or we can set up a meeting. Again, if you have any interest in helping, please let me know, and as always, thanks in advance for your help.

United Divers in Somerville would be the closest. They already run a very similar program with MIT. I don't know for sure whether the aim of the program is community outreach per se, but they run both a Discover SCUBA class and SCUBA Rangers (little kids) with the MIT dive club. In the past, they have also had access to the Charlestown Y which would be VERY accessible for Suffolk students.

Paul at PG might also be interested. He's in Newton and has access to good training facilities.

Contact Paul at PG Dive. He might be interested.

Edit: See Chris already suggested this.

Hi there

We are actually in process of helping another local college set up a club. Let me know what you are looking for and I can give you whatever help you need.

Thanks

Paul
