Hello everyone!
I petitioned Scubaboard for a South Korea specific along with scuba_divo back at the end of 2019. At the time, I was planning on diving a lot, having been certified only a year and a half before. Then, COVID of course, followed by the arrival of my wonderful daughter. After navigating all of these changes, I've only been diving a handful of times. Now, things are getting a bit freer timewise for me, and I am looking to get back into diving at least twice a year if I can swing it.

I logged into this page for the first time in maybe a year and a half, and was happy to see people still contributing and keeping this page alive. The community of English-speaking divers in Korea is very small, but I have no doubt we can become an even tighter-knit group through this forum. I hope I have a chance to dive with all of you in the coming months and years.

Its slowly growing. I got a DM from a person last week (who has yet to reply) about dive shop recommendations in Jeju for diving during their visit here in Korea!

The community is larger than would be seen on scubaboard. While this place is great resource of info, it feels like a early 2000's early internet discussion forum. My guess is the old heads that run it like it like that and I'm fine with it. Most of us divers are connected either on facebook, instagram or otherwise actual friends in real lfe.

I actually like that "early 2000s vibe", and I like that when I come here, it is scuba and only scuba. FB and the others bombard me with too much nonsense these days.

The community is active outside of here. Tim and Expat Divers arange fun dives quite often. I was diving with them earlier in the summer and it ws good fun. Short day for me, but there will be other chances.

I do mostly my debris work and anyone is welcome to dive Pohang with me for that, or fun diving but really Pohang has nothing special.

Long holiday for Chusok coming to be sure the expat divers will be doing something. I'm thinking something down south but Tim was possibly organizing something to Ullungdo? Not sure he ws doing that over the holiday though. However they likely wont be posting it here so if you are interested in actually diving with said foreign community you may be forced to get in touch outside of scubaboard.
