A short while back I got a set of HP80's from a friend. They were doubled but they looked so funny I took them apart and am using them as singles. My wife likes them as singles because they are just her size (very short). Does anyone actually use these as doubles? If so what type of dives do you use them for? It seems the trim in a drysuit would be hard to maintain because they are so short.

From the same friend I just got a set of double LP80's. These are much better looking and are only an inch shorter than my al80's. I haven't dove them yet but look like they would be much easier to trim out. My question is does anyone dive double LP80's anymore? All I ever see and hear about are 100's and larger.I hope to take a fundies class one day. Are these acceptable for that? They are plus rated and it seems they should hold a bit more air then regular 80's (especially if overfilled). What do you think, are these good tanks for shallow (NDL) wreck dives or the such?

I met a guy in Key Largo who used double HP80s for 100' deco dives. He wasn't tall.

Most avoid HP80 as doubles as they make you head heavy. But for shorter folks they can be fine. My wife who is 5'4" dives LP66s which are similar. She likes them. I dive LP85s and we both use them for ocean dives. Bigger is not always better - some feel that doubled LP80/85 or HP100 are perfect for ocean dives as they given enough air for dives without incurring too much deco.

BTW with any cylinder with the plus rating are full when fill to 10% i.e. an LP80 at 2400psi is 72cuft, they are 80 cuft when filled to 2640 psi.
