Never been to Point Dume. Whats it like? How far off shore is the reef and where is it off the beach? Heard many great things about it. As much information as possible would be great. Anyone is invited to join us.

Great spot - can't say enough about it. If I wasn't going to be out of town, I'd join you.
Warning: The current can be killer... we were there yesterday and had to bail (see above links) Lifeguard boat picked up some other divers - they were fine though, no big deal.

To answer your other questions, park all the way at the end of Westward Beach. The pinnacles are around the cliff to the left and if the tide is low enough you can walk to the next cove over and launch from there.
Not sure about the swimming distance.
