With only 5-10 knot winds from SW, Seas calm, Sunny, 60 degree air temp, and high tide at 9:00 AM, couldn't asked for a perfect day to dive Cath. rocks. Unfortunately, a lot of other divers had the same idea. I was lucky to get last parking spot.

Of course a large group of divers were coming up as I was entering so I waited to enter. Water's still 43-44 at depth (70 fsw) Closer to 47-50 at surface near entry point. Saw some big mamma lobsters in traps (just looking!) Vis wasn't the best. Lots of plankton.

On way back, found a mask and snorkle near entry point. Some diver must have put mask up on hood or lost hold of it as swam to shore.

As soon as I got to shore to take my mask off, my mask strap broke! Go figure. Only had time for one dive so called it a day.

Saw lots of usual subjects, fluke, small rays..

Still my most favorite shore dive in New England

Hey Dude, I was there at the same time....red/black drysuit...those were great conditions.

...and I was his sidekick. Also in a drysuit. Shlepping a big u/w video setup.

Vis wasn't amazing (15' over the vegetation, 20' below the thermocline) but it was hardly a bad day. It was flat calm on the surface, ever-so mild current underneath. I would say it was one of the better dives I've had there conditions-wise in the last year or so.

Sure was cold, though. It was a big, obvious thermocline to be sure, and it went from about 55 to 45 degrees pretty quick. Coming back up out of it felt like bathwater.
