5mm exposure suit in cold water

I was wondering with a jacket (Im not sure what kind of thicknesses they come in), of say around 4mm added to 5mm torso gives 9mm protection. Is the torso the man source of heat loss. Would a 4mm on legs and 3mm on arms be insufficient, in your opinion.
 
everybody is a little different, but I would say 3mm on your arms wouldn't work for a 50 degree dive. Not for very long anyway. you could try it. But just rent a suit if you going for a visit to cold water. no since being frozen, no fun.
