A 59 year old man, who was attending a PADI course in Haugesund in Western Norway together with his son encountered unspecified problems during one of his open water dives. The man was brought ashore and CPR was administered, but it wasn't possible to resuscitate the man and he was declared dead on the site.

The site is easy to dive and popular for course dives in the area.

It's not clear from the media reports whether the man was alive or already dead when he was brought ashore, and it's not known if the accident was caused by a gear malfunction or medical problems unrelated to diving. The autopsy is scheduled for Monday, March 3rd, and a preliminary report is assumed to be finished on the afternoon of March 3rd.
