This is the first time I've reported on a dive, so if I don't list something you want to know, just ask and I'll do my best.
I went to the Pelham Rock Quarry this last weekend along with my brother who was there doing his checkout dives along with some other guys in their OW class. I mostly tagged along with them during their skills dives, but did a solo to the school bus as well as the sail boat. Vis was fair, lingering around 20-25 feet. It did clear up significantly when I went to the bus (probably around 30-40 feet) which was sitting in 80 feet of water.
Once they completed their skills dive, my brother and I checked out the fire truck, jeep, and bream beds all of which were close together and sitting in abotu 35-40 ft of water. There were several classes there so the bottom was stirred up a good bit. One guy in one of the classes had a can of cheese whiz which he was spraying out for the fish which were going crazy.
On the second day, my brother's class finished their checkout dives pretty quickly, and he wanted to go see the school bus, so we went back there, and then swam from there to the metal box which was sitting at 85'. I was hoping to see some fish in / around it, but no luck. We did however get to visit with two (young) local otters who were swimming around when we were coming up. They didn't seem one bit surprised, but did book it when I tried to pet one.
Water temp both days was pretty consistent. 85 outside, 73 surface, and around 53 for anything below 45 feet.
Hope this helps someone who might be planning a trip. Alabam Blue Water Adventures also has a really great crew there and are very helpful. I will definitely be going back soon.
P.S.
If anyone has a camera and dives Pelham within the next few weeks, I wrote "Pendo was here" in the algea on the inside roof of the school bus near the emergency roof exit. A picture would be very appreciated!
