Hi!

I'm heading to Key Largo tomorrow for my checkout dive - I am SO excited. Been wanting to dive for a long long time.

Not sure what to expect during the checkout dives though - I know there are 4 dives that take place over 2 days. Is it mostly skills demonstration - or is it a little skill and a lot of fun?? I'm doing the PADI thing....

Glad to finally be joining the scuba-world!!

Joni

Over the four dives you must be able to demonstrate to the instructor mastery of the 18 skills.

Depending on the number of students, you may have lots of time for "fun" stuff.

A suggestion that I make to folks going through their OW certification, is to try and arrange with some of your fellow students to go diving as soon as you can. Pick a site, take along a diver who knows the site and really have fun!

I'm one step ahead of you there! I'm already planning to head back to the Keys in June with my LDS:wink:

And...I was just looking at some of the group trips on this board. I have a strong feeling that I'm going to become an addict. I've been an armchair scuba diver for years - just never took it up because of the cost. Now - where there's a will there's a way!

Thanks!

Excellent for planning to go diving. Just better warn you though --- there is no known cure for this addiction (thank goodness)

Joni,

After 3000 dives and over 1000 students and instructors certified the thrill remains every time I go diving. When you start with the enthusiasm you show, it can only be fun.

ENJOY!!!

Hey - I did mine 3 weeks ago. First dive was mostly fun - only skills descent and ascent; next 2 dives were mostof the other the skills; last dive all I had to complete was the compass navigation and the rest was exploration. It was superb and I can;t wait to get back in the water! Enjoy
