Did my 1st dive of the year today a "shakedown" solo dive to test my gear both old and new and perform a few skills. The location was Fort Wetherill west side cove The weather was sunny the wind was blowing about 20mphs.
There were 2 - 3 foot white caps, no swells. The tide was in coming with no perceivable current. Air temp was 79 water surface temp 45F bottom temp 40F. Max depth 25 ft. bottom time 26 minutes, total in water time 45 minutes. The further out and deeper I went the better the vis got to a max of 5 feet. I was comfortable for the duration of the dive in my 7mm Parkway farmer style wet suit hood and boots. I used a pair of AMP 5mm 5 finger gloves that were great! Sighted nothing of note a few small jellyfish floated by otherwise nothing, of course with 5' max visibility a school of fish could have passed 10 feet from me and I wouldn't have seen them. Did have one equipment malfunction, one of my depth gauges didn't work, other than that everything went well and I'm ready to dive regularly. Anyone interested in a night dive this weekend? I've got two new lights I want to test.
