More info on the presentation:

Our guest for this Meetup is Sgt. Ray Mazzola of the Chicago Police Marine Unit.

While most of our water related activities tend to be enjoyable, members of the Police Marine Unit often find themselves in circumstances and places that the rest of us avoid.

Sgt. Raymond Mazzola was first certified to dive in 1963 and after serving in the military, re-entered diving in 1971. He was assigned to the police marine unit in 1977 and is currently assigned to the 2nd watch. He has worked on several plane crashes, body and evidence recoveries, and rescue work. His contributions have been recognized by both the Chicago City Council and the Fraternal Order of Police. Sgt. Mazzola has also been an SDI instructor since 1997.

Sgt. Mazzola has promised us plenty of stories as well as pictures and artifacts, and we might even get a peek some of the diving equipment that is used in their work. This should be a fascinating opportunity to view a different side of the marine and dive world.

At our meeting, we will also be discussing our upcoming dive charters and other events.

We will be meeting in the basement at Lalo's. 7-7:30 is our traditional Meet and Greet, when you will be able to order food and drink. The business meeting and announcements start at 7:30 and the presentation will start at approximately 8:00.
