35 HID Dive Light...

New to the Scuba Industry...

MagnaLight 35 Watt HID. I just purchased the light yesterday and can't wait to dive it. They shipped it out overnight so I will be diving it tomorrow night. I spoke with the owner of MagnaLight and I am truly impressed with the overall service and information he had for me. He is looking forward to my feedback.

Battery - Lithium ion 3.7 Volt, 2,200 mah, lasts 3 hours

The price of the unit is extremely low considering it is a 35 watt HID. Below $900 bucks...Yeah! Burn time is excellent with 180 minutes on 4 hour charge. I dove a 24 watt HID light which was great but the price was extremely high and the company is overseas so customer service was an issue. Most divers choose to dive 10 watt HID around here (atleast that is what I've seen) because the price is much lower and you still get a really bright white light. Hopefully, I will have good news for all that might consider a new 35 Watt HID dive light for a unbeatable price!!

My math sucks. How do they get 3 hours at 35 watts with this battery?

The ballast runs on 24V which pulls about 1.2 amps after startup...If anyone has any math wizard questions about the 3 hour burn time...the website and # is posted on the website I provided and I'm sure Rob can answer questions...let me dive the light and post a feedback first and put the math wizards and sceptics to rest. I did a quick scan of their website, and saw nothing about dive lights. They clearly have a long track record in building HID lights of a variety of kinds, but I'll be interested in the durability and longevity of your light under heavy diving use. Let us know!

I suspect that's just a misprint. 3.7V at 2200 mah works out to just 3 AA batteries in parallel, which is not going to run a 35 watt HID for 3 hours.

Still that is an awfully small battery compartment for a 35W/3hr light!

As stated, I'm not as sharp in math as I used to be. But if you compare your light with state of the art AGIR Lugh9, a 21 watt HID with a 9Ah 12 volt battery, it gives 210 minutes of light time. So I'm confused. And they say your light gives off 3200 lumen(!), which is another spectacular number I haven't seen spec'd on any other dive light.
