It is my understanding that the Hog 32lb wing only has the one dump valve on the lower right and not a pull one on the inflator. Is this accurate? If so, does it take much getting used to since you can't dump air when vertical? Thanks much.

Likely the dump (opv) is on the left. When vertical, push the Exhaust button on the inflator. (it must be held higher than the wing of course)

It's my understanding that this is how most (all?) wings are configured, yes. You shouldn't be spending much time vertical anyway ;-)

Lol. I understand I shouldn't be vertical very much, but I am hoping to do ice dives where I assume that starting horizontal isn't an option. Glad to know there is still the exhaust button. When I read somewhere that there wasn't the pull dump option on the inflator I took it to mean there was no way to vent air except the dump valve on the back. Thanks much for clearing up my confusion.

Yes, you still have the standard kind of inflator, so you can vent by using the button on the end and holding the hose up. You just can't vent by pulling on the hose -- which is fine with me, because pulling a hose off or having it break is about the only way you can totally disable a wing, so I'd rather not do something which increases the risk of that happening.

Is 0-24 dives in you profile correct?

I would get a bit more experience before jumping into 32-34 degree water, there is a lot going on when the water is that cold.......

Are you in a drysuit?

I am around 20 dives and have the SSI dry suit cert. Hoping to get a dry suit of my own at some point but do not have my own yet. Most my dives have been in 40 to 50 degree water so far. I am not fully versed in the differences but realize that there is a lot more risk involved with diving 32 degree water than there is with 40 degree water. Most likely I am going to end up waiting at least a year before ice diving to get more experience with my gear as I am switching to bp/w. Not to mention just gaining more experience in general. I have seen the term "task overload" too many times on the forum to feel comfortable with attempting ice dives this year. I was just ensuring that the gear I was looking into would work for me in the future.

TSandM - I like the idea of 'unlearning' the action of yanking on a hose that is connected to the bladder. Seems like asking for trouble!

I was Ice certified last winter......it was a blast, but it does place a lot of stress on your gear and how you use it....

Dive as much as you can and you will be ready........good to see you thinking ahead, I wish I had done the same when I started buying my own gear.....M
