300 bar SPG, maximum working pressure

Looking to buy a new SPG and kind of like the simple 300 bar ones that have 0-200 bar in the top half. However, I just realised these have a "maximum working pressure" of 200 bar. Question is are these safe to use for normal rec diving where start pressure will usually be in the 190-220 bar range on a full tank?

Or do I need to get a 360 bar, 300 maximum working pressure one, which seems to be the norm, for that little more buffer?

working pressure is not the same as burst pressure. working pressure is the recommended range of use and generally lies in the middle of the sweep range of the gauge for accuracy purposes. beyond that until the burst pressure, the reading becomes less reliable. If you don't plan to exceed 232 bar, the standard spg should be fine.

it is also possible the disclaimer is there so a customer doesn't order a 300 bar spg to use with 300 bar tanks. In that case you would be much closer to the burst pressure and likely to undergo premature fatigue/failure.

Choosing a Pressure Gauge

Basically, you'll want a 350 BAR/ or 5000 PSI gauge.
