We dove the West side of Lovers in the morning incase the wind came up. This turned out to be a good call as the wind did arise making lots of white caps. The swells were not bad as the time between was a decent 14 sec and you could wait between sets to enter and exit.
We entered the water at 9am. The vis was 15' in 19' of water. I was shadowing two divers in a class and they didnt go deeper than that. The surge at that depth was strong and it would have been better at a deeper depth. We saw lots of rock life, a few fish, a jellyfish..exited at 10 pm.
After lunch we moved to the parking lot at the east cove of lovers. The water in the cove was calm for easy entry and exit. Outside the cove was white caps and there were breakers on the rocks on both sides of the cove. A dive boat was anchored outside the cove. We entered the water at 12 pm. This time we made it to a depth of 40'. We saw lots of fish, and a wolf eel. The students turned around on their compass reading and headed for shore. We almost made it to the dive boat before stopping them and turning them back around toward shore. A good learning experiance for them...but I forgot ,,I had to make that long swim back too...at the 40' depth the vis was around 20'.
On 3/2 we dive in the afternoon on the Escapade dive boat. We will do a deep dive and a second dive. We will then relax till dark and do a night dive off the boat. I will report on Monday.
