WRAP EVENT: Roddenberry Dive Team Launch Event - 2009 Long Beach Scuba Show

For those of you not in the Scuba loop or simply unable to attend, the Roddenberry Dive Team opened its virtual doors on May 30th 2009 at the Long Beach Scuba Show. The weekend event consisted of a show room where many of the industry’s vendors, manufacturers and participants set-up to sell their products and share their ideas... and the Roddenberry Dive Team was no exception! Located at booth #355, we were definitely the “new kids on the block” but because of the unique perspective we were sharing, we were also one of the most popular... Or at least one of the most intriguing. As seen in the photo gallery below, we included as much eye catching materials as we could.

We also had a ton of help, friends from all over came out of the woodwork to support our efforts and really helped make this event a huge success for us. We did a number of interviews and met an incredible number of people from all walks of life... Whether they were Star Trek fans or simply passionate divers, everyone seemed to be able to get behind the idea of working together for a brighter future above and below the sea.

We have to admit that one of our biggest draws was the “Whites” Star Trek inspired Drysuit. Although I have to admit, people were a little hesitant because it was a “Red Shirt”... something about never coming back from the dive? (In Star Trek, the crew member in the Red Shirt, never made it back from the planet they were visiting). As you can see from the photos, the “Red Shirt” made his way around the convention floor!

All in all the event and our launch was a huge success. Along with everyone who helped us, we want to thank the dive industry for welcoming us to the “Diving Community” and look forward to working with them to inspire future generations to get the most out of life by “getting off the couch and jumping in the water”.
