2007 New Certification / Education:

• GUE Fundamentals
• Crossed over from SSI Dive Con to PADI Divemaster

Favorite Dive:

The first night dive in Turks and Caicos. I had an octopus that followed me around for the first 20 minutes of the dive and I saw the first two squid that I have ever seen IRL.

Least Favorite Dive:

There are no least favorite dives. All dives are great!

New Equipment Purchased:

• Salvo 10W HID Canister
• P-valve for my drysuit. - Now I just have to find the courage to poke a hole in my perfectly good drysuit.

How I did on my 2007 Goals:

My main goal was completed, which was take and pass the GUE Fundamentals class. My secondary goal of taking Cave 1 was postponed.

Dive Goals for 2008:

That's a tough one! It depends on where I end up in May/June. Tentatively hoping to complete Cave 1 (or equivalent) and I may take a IDC/IE internship during the summer. Beyond that I would love to take a Trimix class.

Other:

The years not over yet. I still have 3 or 4 more dives planned for December 29/30.

2007 isn't over yet but I've got 301 dives so far. Deepest dive to 201 ft. Coldest 50 F. Already filled out my 2008 dive goals in another thread.

Not sure I made any...

Dive Goals for 2008:
Just to dive lots and gain more experience. Dive more wrecks than I did this past year.

2007 New Certification / Education: After 30 years as a Divemaster, I received my instructor ratings in 19 specialties and technical instructor ratings in nine specialties.

How I did on my 2007 Goals: All gained.

Dive Goals for 2008: Instruct; visit and dive in Seattle; dive with my daughter in the BVI's, dive in France.

Maximum distance from the surface: 595 feet. Pure depth-- Personal hard deck of 100 fsw.

Dive Location Farthest From My Home:

High Springs, FL noses out Maui by a few miles.

2007 New Certification / Education:

Attempted GUE Rec Triox -- no success yet.
TDI Cavern/Intro in October.


Favorite Dive:

How do I choose? Last night's 12 foot six gill shark? My first cenote dive, at Ponderosa in March, with Danny and Kevin? The first dive of Intro where I led the way into the dark? My first dive in the Devil's system, with all the wonder and excitement that I was actually THERE?

Least Favorite Dive:

There were no bad dives in 2007. The closest to bad were the multiple failed Rec Triox checkouts, or the second day of cavern, when I tried to exit the cave upside down in the dark.

New Equipment Purchased:

Salvo Rat Jr. - Rocks.
Dive Rite 1W backup - 50 hr burn time.
X-scooter - I'm still on the fence about this one.
Terkel 10W HID as a "spare" -- was a good buy.



How I did on my 2007 Goals:

Failed Rec Triox repeatedly. That was a bummer. Took and passed Cavern, which was planned, and Intro, which wasn't, but was a nice treat. I wanted to make inroads on the midwater issues I have, but I'm not sure I did.

Dive Goals for 2008:

Cave 1 in April. I'm going to continue to work with AG on a regular basis, just building skills. No tech training planned. I hope to get back to Florida and Mexico for cave diving, and down to LA and Monterey to visit friends. We have a cruise with some diving planned in Tahiti in September.

My goal was to get certified, which I did at the end of April. So I'm happy.

Work on my underwater photography skills...

The years not over yet. I'm going to Catalina this weekend and am going to try to get in 5 or 6 dives, including a night dive! Yay!
