I am working on an event calendar for work and found this.

*Feb 25, 2006

The Sanctuary Ocean Count was initiated as a means to provide Hawaii residents and visitors with the opportunity to actively participate in evaluating the status of humpback whales in their breeding grounds by conducting a yearly shore-based census during the peak breeding season. If you are interested in joining us for a morning of whale watching, either as a general volunteer or site leader, please call our offices to register: Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary - Oahu: (808) 397-2651; Kauai (808) 246-2860; Big Island 1-888-55-WHALE.

Contact: Information (808) 397-2651

Type: Event

Island: Kauai, Oahu, Big Island

Sounds like fun :D

Yes but do we get to eat them? :-)

Been awhile since I had whale sushi, good stuff. lol I will give you a count when I am out this week on the ship and on the 25th. We will be floating just off the coast the whole time. Unfortunately I will be gone that day.

.....Sigh...is no forum safe?

I was wondering when you might see wildcard and okamiotoko's posts. Guess they didn't read the whaling post.

I have seen the people out doing the whale counts (at Lanai Lookout). Thanks for the numbers to volunteer. I was wondering how to contact them.
