Hi All,

I'm trying to decide on where to stay for a two week trip to Fiji December 3 -17, 2011? We are considering a week on the Nai'a for the first week and maybe a week on Taveuni, but if we don't do the Nai'a we'd want to do two different resorts with one on Taveuni and one somewhere else. We want nice accommodations and great diving, what do you think? Just my wife and I and we're both good divers.

You must do a trip on Nai'a if you can - excellent diving (great for photographers), spacious cabins and an attentive and knowlegable crew.

Book early as she is very popular :D

Another option is a resort stay on Kadavu. This island is south of the main island and less developed than Taveuni - no TV or air-conditioning but excellent dive/accomodation packages available.

Taveuni Island Resort. Definitely. You will not be sorry (until you get the bill). We stayed a week last September and it was excellent.

Hi
Garden Island Resort on Taveuni is very nice and a good dive crew.
For your 2nd week on that side (North) of Fiji you could move across to JM Cousteau's in Savusavu from where you can dive the Namena marine reserve, Nasonisoni passage and other great sites. Koro Sun is an alternative and slightly cheaper. Both have first rate dive operators.
A little more pricey but very exclusive (i.e. small and isolated) is Namena

Kadavu is also very cool. lots of places to stay there but at the better end is Mai Dive
This is actually on Ono island but it is part of the Kadavu group and has access to the Astrolabe Reef which not all resorts on Kadavu do.

Lots of cheaper options so if you would like some more economical suggestions, just ask.
I live and dive in Fiji but am not associated with any resort.
Cheers

Thanks for all the great suggestions folks, all wonderful places it looks like?

If you are going to stay on the big island, Wananavu is better than Beqa. I have done both. Wananavu has better diving (the Bligh Waters) and is cheaper. Better food too.

I also recommend a liveaboard. We have done a liveaboard on Fiji and the diving is some of the best in the world.

It looks like we are going to spend a 7 day trip on the Naia and then 7 nights at Garden Island Resort on Taveuni, 2 weeks in dive heaven. :) Thanks for the planning help folks.

Question to Fijidiver : is it just me but I was quite disappointed with Naiqoro passage dived everyday from Waisalima. I like much the genuine island life in Kadavu but the diving didn't really convince me compared to say Vatu I Ra.
What was there so special I missed? I think the guides were good (esp. Mike from Viti Levu divers), for me the fish life was simply not up, like it was fished out.
