I will also recommend Bamboo Bali! A wonderful small resort run by a great dutch family! The ONLY drawback is it is not waterfront.

Bari Reef has had more fish species identified than any other place in the Caribbean. One of the big reasons is that a number of folks who frequent Sand Dollar are extremely good at fish identification and know what they see and where exotic fish are most likely to be found.

Hi Jeff! Hope you are well. Enjoy Bonaire...the diving is great :D I would like to throw in a plug for Buddy Dive for your diving needs. We were VERY pleased with their operation. The house reef is great and the Nitrox is complimentary. We usually ended up finishing each dive day by diving their house reef...of course after a day of diving several other sites around the island.

We did not stay at Buddy Dive Resort - we were next door at Coral Paradise Resort. I can't recommend them highly enough, but just check out the reviews on TripAdvisor and you'll see for yourself.

Have a great time!

Do not stay at Hamlet Oasis, it is cheap, but we got ripped off there and we have heard since that it is not an unusual occurrence. We stayed at Buddy Dive our last trip and it was good, friends stayed last spring at Bamboo Bali and raved about it. we have found that renting a car on our own from ABC was significantly cheaper than the rental through Buddy.

I imagine that you are referring to Hamlet Oasis Resort itself and not the Hamlet Villas in general.

My first trip to Bonaire was in September and we stayed at Beachcomber Villas which is located in Hamlet Oasis. I would recommend these guys any day to anyone going to Bonaire for the first time. The villa is owned and managed by nicest couple you will ever meet (Leanne and Tim). We are new divers and Tim, who is a dive instructor with an insane amount of experience provided us with all the advice needed to "cope" with our first shore dives. Tim actually went out with us on our first dive to assess our skills and then made recommendations for dive sites as our skills improved.

The Cliff is their house reef. As you can see from the pics on their website it is beachfront property. These guys also helped us arrange for a truck rental prior to our arrival at a great price, much cheaper than what we were able to price out on our own.

Beachcomber Villas

We booked our dives through Dive Friends as they have 4 different location on Bonaire and one of them is next door to Beachcombers (1min walk).

Hope this helps

This might be a good deal for a 1st time Bonaire visitor with limited shore diving experience.
Repeat Bonaire divers would find the 11 boat dives to be excessive; I've not done a boat dive in my last 3 or 4 trips there.
Also, all dinners at the Plaza doesn't amuse me. There are dozens of good places to eat around Kralendijk and it's fun deciding where to try next...

Get the nitrox option, you'll need it.
Take a day to visit the Slagbaii Reserve and dive a couple of times up there. More difficult entries and a long drive but worth it.
Do a night dive at Oil Slick.
Consider renting a house from the By Owner rental places online.

Take a soft sided cooler to pack snacks or a lunch. That way, you can go farther and dive all day without driving back for lunch. Food on the island isn't cheap but it's cheaper at the grocery stores.
