1st time Diver, info on Oahu

Hello everyone. I was told to check this place out for some suggestions on Scuba tour companies for Oahu. I have never dived before and am exited on the experience.
Would any please give me some suggestions on who to use on Oahu? I was also told about the big island, Kona. Is kona a better place to dive? Please give me some info.
I am going to the island Nov 26 to Dec 2, with my brother and we want to maximize out our vacation.
Also, is it worth getting certified while we are there or before, and why?
