I am changing the way the nitrox blending unit is setup.
I have o2 cleaned an older scubapro piston 1st stage, (99% sure its a Mk5), and began using it to reduce the oxygen bottle output from the approx 130 bar max - 10 bar approx. This is done by using the high pressure inlet, and the intermediate outlet.
This is then further controlled and reduced by a flow restrictor and flow gauge with needle valve before entering the nitrox stick
The question that popped into my mind was whether using the 1st stage to reduce all that pressure was too much. Although being extensively cleaned, serviced with 100% o-rings and lube, it has not had a 100% kit put through it for parts such as the seat, that may not be compatible.
The pressure is reducing, and thus should cool. But will there be heat build up around the piston neck/seat area, and cause possible ignition?
I DID use it for a while (an hour) before i caught myself and decided to check.
