My wife and I have been certified for a year now. I am PADI AOW. Last year we did all shore diving in the Rockport area of Mass and a few dives in Wetherill in RI. We liked the sport so much that I bought a small boat this year. I am planning our first dive in the the next 2 weeks and was interested in suggestions for a nice boat dive.

The only requirement is that I'd like the opportunity to continue catching lobster on at least one of the dives. The other dive I need to keep the wife happy and look at the scenery.

Because I certainly don't. At least not for a while. Water was still 39° last week and the only bugs I saw on my boat dive were shorts.

It's still a little early bugs, I took a few keepers down here on the SS earlier this week, but, mostly there are just shorts around.

Becareful if you are "dead" boat diving. Make sure you are well anchored and let out a long tag line, and of course fly a big dive flag.

Have fun. Most places are the NS are very nice.

I would suggest Kettle Island or Egg Rock off Manchester. Beautiful scenery, year round, great bug and flounder hunting (in season) and if you like urchins, well there are those as well. Yesterday I did two dives there and it was awesome. I saw a few good size flounder, several Ocean Pout, and yes - Lobster! Got five keepers and there were bunches off eggers that we released (of course). Best of all - easy 60 feet of vis.

Ditto on the "dead" boat diving comments.

Most places in this area are nice. You just need to try different places - lok at a chart and point!

Have fun!
