on a side note...I am eligible to join The Sons Of The Confederacy, since my great-great grandfather fought with the 15th Regiment Louisiana Volunteers duing the Civil War.

The side you'd be on would depend on where you were born, if for instance you were born in Virginia, you'd most likely be on the Confederate side, if born in Ohio, on the Union side. Although you could choose to switch, most people would be on the side that you and your families state was from.
