I'm new to nitrox so I have no firm sense of cost per tank. I thought it was a $5 US to $7 US per tank? I was told by one resort in Little Cayman they would charge $15 US per tank, not per day, per tank! 5 days of two tanks dives for $150 US? Huh? That seems excessive to me. What is usual cost per tank?

In my limited experience air fills tend to run $4.00 to 5.00 with nitrox costing an additional $5.00 to $7.00.

Locally, a nitrox fill is $10.00. My thoughts are that if you are somewhere tropical with a fair demand for Nitrox, $15.00 is pretty reasonable.

I pay $15 for a Nitrox fill. I don't know where you get your regular air fills but I pay $5-$6 for a regular fill of just plain old air.

I must be very lucky then. I'm going on a liveaboard next week in Thailand and the added cost for a Nitrox tank is US$3/tank. Added to that, their air tanks are all 80's - and the Nitrox tanks are 100's! ;) Sounds like a good deal from what I'm hearing here!!

I believe that next year they are going to raise the price to US$5.

what's the liveaboard?

I buy the little cards for air fills, works out to be $2.50 at the moment, although it will be $3 fairly soon.

Nitrox is a mystery price, i can get it for $9-10 per tank, or i can buy by the cuft for about 6-8c/cf depending on how much i have left i will do one or the other depending which shops i pass. I have seen deals with some places for unlimited nitrox for a week for $100 and at certain resorts or liveaboards i would very much intend doing that (some have even been only a $20 upcharge for a weekend liveaboard) as i would hope to dive more than 10 times in a weeklong dive vacation - still waiting for that day to come! ;)

$15 sounds like a decent deal for Little Cayman. If they banking it or doing PP fills, either way it is going to be expensive for them. Be happy they even have nitrox.. :)

Just a little addendum: part of the issue is the cost of the oxygen. If it has to be imported it's rather pricey.
