you could probably get a primary and two Conshelf SE2's plus gauges for $80 to $100 in Ebay, maybe even lower if you take your time

Scubapro R390's are harder to spot (in my experience) but you can get a primary and secondary (Mk. 16) for about $110, no gauges

keep in mind that you will have to get those serviced before you can safely use them (more than likely) and you are talking about at least $50 for the service...

so ... for $190 you get a used regulator ....

or for $70 more you can get a new Zeagle Envoy:

That's ok. I am just one of those compulsive people (cheap, lol) that like to get a good deal. I'm just worried that someone else would buy it now and I would be stuck paying more piecing a unit together. Oh well. It's hard to find info on the SE2's for some reason even though they are popular. Thanks a lot for the help.

PS. Noticed u are from Jacksonville, had a great time at the Gatorbowl there, everyone seemed hospitable!

I this too much for a Primary and 2 Conshelf SE2's with guages? Also fo rthe same price I could get A primary, Scubapro R390, and aqualung octo. Dont know which would be better. New to this. Thanks!

Now I have the oppertunity to get conshelf 21 set up for the same price shipped. Is this better? I heard good things about the 21's. Should I hold out for the metal bodies or is plastic ok? Yes I am impulsive... I drive a Corvette in 3"s of snow. lol!!!:eyebrow:

The SE 2 is a super dependable regulator. It had a top rating by the US Navy. It is a Conshelf style regulator . Parts are easily obtained and it is easy to work on. I personally like a metal second stage regulator. I bought one new in 1987 and have never overhauled it, other than a new mouthpiece or two. I rinse it well after using and keep water out of the first stage. I want to see how long it will go before it needs work. If I had was leaning towards getting a SE2 I would also look very hard at the Conshelf 14, which has been in use for decades by the navy and is still being used for open circuit diving. It is basically the same as the SE 2. It is a chrome plated brass second stage. The only drawback to both is there is only 3 LP ports so if you wanted to dive with a drysuit you would have to add an adapter for additional ports. Add acold water kit and it is good for cold water diving as the metal second stage keeps your second stage from icing up, which is more prone to happen with the SE 2, especially when filling lift bags, etc. The Conshelf 21 are like the SE 2 regs. Again they are all the same and as I recall, all the internals are the same. Take your pick, but I think you can't go wrong with the metal second stage.

I have been looking at the 14's but think they may be out of my price range. I like them b/c they have been around forever and hack, they are metal. I am a traditional dude, so the whole metal/retro tuff thing tends to lure me. Anyway, the 21's and SE2's are pretty similar according to what I have read, but which one's are better for the price? Thanks James!

I have Conshelf 21's for sale if you want, in like new condition. They are essentially the same regs as the Aqualung Titans or so the dive store told me. So servicing them is not a problem. However I believe the SEA2 is a better reg.
