14-42 with diopter vs 60mm

What's your opinion of the 14-42mm lens with AOI UCL-05LF +6 diopter vs M. Zuiko 60mm lens, especially in terms of magnification, field of view, versatility, and picture quality? Obviously, I can use a flip adapter to shoot with or without the diopter on the 14-42.

FYI, I have an E-M10 IV and Octo housing. I got the diopter for the 14-42 so I could switch it out with a UWL-09 Pro to do both macro and WA during the same dive. Now, I'm thinking that may be too cumbersome, and should have just done 60mm, and either that WA lens and/or 8mm fisheye.

Well one is a real macro lens that gets you 1:1. The +6 diopter on the 14-42 at the 42 end will be considerably less. The native maximum magnification is 0.19 x so with the cmc you might get 0.3 x so not really comparable. The 60 macro lens is super sharp and good IQ. The DXO guys think the 60 has much better (2x) IQ if that means anything.

Yeah. I get all that. I'm going to shoot with the 14-42 in Roatán in a couple of weeks, then likely upgrade to the 60mm after that.

It was Backscatter who recommended the 14-42 and UCL-05LF to me. I had read that article before I bought them. It is interesting that the diopter in the article is not the one they recommended to me. Regardless, having never really ventured into macro before, I'll shoot with my current gear in Roatán in a couple of weeks, then consider upgrading to the 60 mm.
