I am planning to buy a camera or housing for my canon elura digital camcorder but i have no idea whatsoever on this subject.

Can some one point me to a web resource ??

Are those camera that comes built in with the housing bad ???

looking to spend less than $ 1000

thanks

Check with Digi Deep to see what housings are available for which cameras and camcorders.

Sea & Sea make excellent quality underwater cameras. I've had both the MX-10 or Motor Marine II Ex Pro film cameras. Both basic set-ups can be had within your budget. Keep in mind you'll have constant film and developing expenses.

You should also consider a digital camera and housing. Searching in this forum for digital cameras will get you lots of infomation in the recent past. No film and developing charges, ability to see what your shots look like immediately, no scanning to use the pics on the web. There are several brands that would fallin your budget. An Olympus C-3040, C-4040, C-4000 and a Oly PT-10 housing, for instance. Canon A-40 is another. With digital, and the brighter lenses used, you can take very good photos without an external strobe. You can add one later as your budget allows. Film cameras pretty much require an external strobe from the get-go.

Steve's Digi-Cam Reviews are a good place to start to get ideas on the different cameras available.
Digi-Deep will show you which housings are available for different cameras.

Hope this helps.
