For a brand new AL80..... and other than than what is obviously needed for the valve, what if anything is needed for the just tank to be compatible for 100% O2?

Not sure about tanks, but we had to 02 clean valves for laser and plasma machines. We took them apart and cleaned everything with 90% isopropyl alcohol. The HP100's and AL30 and valves I recently bought new were tagged 02 cleaned and Nitrox ready. LDS just did a VIP and filled them.

Try to get a copy of Vance Harlow "Oxy Hacker Companion book", you'll have all the required info (how to, products etc...) and all written with the idea of doing everything at home, not in a high tech lab.

It's probably the best book ever written on the subject.

Cleaning with alcohol? That's a new one on me for O2 cleaning. Generally you are removing the hydrocarbons not adding them.

Get the tank O2 cleaned along with the valve.

When we were buying "02 cleaned" valves and paying a $50 premium for the cleaning service, I found out on a factory visit that they were just taking them apart, cleaning with alcohol, re-lubricating what needed it with 02 safe silicon grease and reassembling. It's not rocket science so we started doing the same process in-house. These were for industrial machines, not breathing. No idea if that makes a difference.

The whole idea is to get rid of any grease and oils that might be reactive to 02. In reality, our customers DIY'd their own 02 setups with no 02 cleaning and I never heard of any issues. While I was gone for 2 weeks the employees replaced a couple of 02 valves with valves that had not been cleaned yet and I didn't know it till a year later. Those valves had 100% 02 flowing through them 12 hours a day 5 day a week for a year.

Just ask your LDS how they 02 clean valves and cylinders, and do that.

Exactly like @rhwestfall states.
It's need to be free of oils and hydrocarbons.

Aren't the tanks Oxygen clean when delivered? I have never done anything to the valve nor the tank when they are new before putting oxygen in them. Although this is partial pressure filling, so less than 600 psi, but still.

If you are worried, just drop the tank off for the first o2 fill and come back 30 minutes later and if the shop is not on fire, go inside and pick up your tank. :)

Tank is ready to go. If it has the factory cap on it, just use it as is. (Reference blue steel data sheet) Tank really needs to kept free of particulate matter.

If you purchasesd an o2 clean valve then it is good to go. If the valve needs cleaning, clean it or have it done for you.

Most scuba cleaning seems to be done with simple green crystal, probably because it is a more universal cleaner for scuba stuff (acidic) and non flammable so you can use it in an ultrasonic cleaner.

Oxygen is not insainly dangerous but not knowing what your doing can get you into trtrouble, read or, even better have someone train you.

It is very much so used in industry. I assume scuba uses SG because you can just use that for everything.

Alchol is hot a hydrocarbon., but you are correct that you don't want it in there. It evaporates quick which is why industry likes it (quick and easy)
