His name was Fabio Livio, he was 41 years old and lived in Tavernerio, in the province of Como, the diver who died today in Mandello in the Moregallo area.
His body was recovered at a depth of 80 meters , in the abysses of the Lario in front of the Moregallo area in Mandello, the western shore of the Lecco branch. His dive buddy who was with him sounded the alarm . It is not known what happened, if he ran out of oxygen in his cylinders or if he was struck down by a sudden illness or had some problems with his equipment. The two friends had dived to a depth of 100 meters . They were climbing in an emergency when, towards 85 meters, Livio had difficulty. At that point the dive buddy came up to raise the alarm .
The Areu health workers were mobilized with the firefighters, but they could not do anything, because the diver was stuck at an excessive depth , unattainable if not by other experienced and equipped divers. For this reason, the rescue operation of the diver's body was entrusted to the divers of the Milan fire brigade.
