Last night a few of us did the Barge / Monarch Drift and a Few of us did the Sman. Last Saturday the temp on the Monarch was 70 deg. For some strange reason the River is now at 59 deg on the Monarch and the divers that did the S-man advised they had 57 deg in the lake ? Good thing I didn't wear a 3mil ! The currents are still ripping and on the Monarch there is all kinds of sand swirls with sand building up on the deck and in front sections. Darcy said that at one point she couldn't even see from the sand, not sure if the Storm this week had anything to do with it. As we left we searched for the Tub and managed to find it. It was around the same area we found the Sled Runner last year.

The drop started as early as Wednesday - when I did the S-man we went in from the furtherest parking lot and after swimming out we dropped down to 20'. At about 10' I noticed a thermocline ... and I mean I really noticed it ... I had decided to do the dive without a hood or drysuit underwear. As we got closer to the bridge the temps picked up and we had 69 on the Monarch. I didn't think much of it (just chalked it up to be a thermocline and nothing else), until last night when I dove at Port Lambton ... water temp was only 62 and of course I had once again gone without a hood but instead of the drysuit with no underwear ... it was just a 5mm single piece suit. I think the lake is turning over although it seems kind of early this year - maybe just a mass of cold water moving around ... whatever the cause - back to wearing a hood for now.
