Today was a good day to get out. Winds were calm and with temps in upper 40s, was nice. The vis wasn't the best (about 10-15 feet) but I just had to get out. Water temp at depth is 40 degrees. Glad to have my dry suit. Did two dives off Folly. (both left side) Still bugs down there! Also saw a seal! It zipped by me, scared the Sh.. out of me. When surfaced, there were a couple old timers that asked if I saw the seal out there. Sort of odd as don't usually see them here.

Hope others got out. I had off today.

Super-mild winter days like today remind me of why I am thinking of doing the drysuit thing. Did you see the torpedo rays? Glad you had a nice day diving, but I'm surprised that the lobster are still in this close to shore.

Was looking for torpedo ray but didn't see it. I've only seen it once there before.
The bugs were there but really tucked in.. Amazing traps still there. Saw one in one of them. I don't know if they are old abandoned traps.

I wasn't bugging and just "touring".

Lobsta you HAVE to get a drysuit....it really makes diving a 12 month affair. I did Back Beach on 12/1 with 5 buddies and had a great time. Five of us had drysuits and one with a wetsuit (God Bless him). We dove the left side (north?) and had decent vis....about 10 ft...until we hit the end of the point, at which point it dropped to ZERO. When I say zero, I mean I had to put my console within a foot of my face to read it! But ya know call me crazy...I love when I need to depend on my navigation skills to figure out where I am, and which way to go. Air temps were probably in the mid 40's, and my bottom temp read 44 on my computer. My main buddy had 43 on hers, but she always reads about 1 degree less than mine so I figure it was fairly accurate. The best part was that as I sat there in my drysuit waiting on some of my buds to finish kitting up, I was actually getting TOO warm and had to get in the water to cool off...and this is January 1? Diving in New England...does it get any better?

We had cold water at Folly Dec 28. My Suunto computer read 39 degrees and my Uwatec digital depth gauge read 37 degrees. My buddy swam past a dead seal not too far from shore but decided not to inspect it too closely.

I have been using wet gloves but stopped at the shop to order dry gloves. I am done with the cold hands nonsense.

We had bad vis - about 5'. Nice to hear the temp and vis increased for your dive.
