Most of the diving from Venice beach is shore dives, although Florida West Scuba does take charters daily out to the "boneyard" which is only about 1 mile offshore. A bit to far to swim, but it is do-able by kayak. Right Dkramer?

Headed down to Venice on Saturday the 29th. Water Temp was 67F at 20 fsw. Viz was about 5-8ft. Lots of silt. It did clear up some once we cleared the silt area. But, not by much.

I think all of those limestone block that were put down for "artificial reef" are causing the silt to stay suspended nearshore by altering the surf/current patters.

so if the boat breaks down you can just swim back instead of waiting for help :14:
