o'ahu

I will be going to Hawaii this July with my girlfriend to visit her father's family who live in Kahuku. Her father grew up and went to highschool in Kahuku but he isn't a diver and doesn't go back very often. Can anyone recommend where to stay for easy access to shore diving? Walking distance...
