I use EZ Scuba as my LDS. The instructor that trained me has 8000+ dives. I find everyone there very helpful and friendly. It is my understanding all of them are cave certified. They are located just West of Veterans on Hillsborough Avenue.

Hey Maya, Felipe told me who it was that stole the gear. I'm glad you did the right thing and called the cops and got your gear back!

Oh wow.. That's horrible!! I'm terribly sorry to hear that. I hope you have insurance that will cover it. I know gear can get quite expensive. :(

Yeah...been on meds since Tuesday. It's clearing up..just not as quickly as I had hoped. :)

I'm out unfortunately. My ear didn't clear up enough to feel comfortable diving. Perhaps another weekend.

I've heard the same..although to use something close to 100% isopropyl alcohol(rubbing alcohol).. It helps the water evaporate out of your ears...

This advice coming from a fellow newbie who went through swimmer's ear and a bad ear infection.. I'm now fighting off infection #2 actually.. :P It's my understanding that some newbie's ear drums that aren't used to equalizing(I live in florida and am a ground hugger) have more trouble...

I've been aching to "make a day of it" lol I'd prolly just bring a big steel 120 instead of two al80's tho..I don't mind walking a bit as long as I'm not around the corner.. lol

If my ear problems cease by tomorrow, I'll stop in at the LDS and pick up my dive gear to join you guys. If I can make it, I'll be in a white ford focus. I'll be wearing a ginnie springs hat at least until I'm geared up. And I'd be there at 8am as well.

And it looks like my weekend plans have shifted around. I *might* be able to join you guys Sat morning. Just depends on how this ear infection pans out over today and start of tomorrow..

For what it's worth, I did a river drift dive this past weekend at Ginnie. The river was pretty nasty..all kinds of trash/bottles/can at the bottom.

Venice Beach is always a good bet.. I'm pretty sure there is a thread floating around somewhere for this weekend's Venice Beach gathering.. hehe

I just did a twilight dive at VB this past Sunday. I found it a little spooky how fast the viz dropped when the sun went down, but it was really neat! I had a lot of fun and would really enjoy another night dive there. :) The real challenge is how many teeth you find only using a small...
