Quarry dwellers seem to have their own set of rules. They think they are diving the great lakes, but they would never make it out there. Just because you are diving deep doesn't make you a great lake lakes diver. Just sayin from experience.
Interesting post Craig. Thanks for putting that up. The state of Wisconsin has moored many of the more popular wrecks. The float is typically white with a blue stripe in the middle. These are normally chained to a mooring on the bottom with a line to the wreck. This is to prevent damage to...
Personally I use twin 72's for a major part of my diving. For shallow stuff I have a '55 steel 70 that's light in weight and does everything I want it to. Love my LP steels. I mostly use my AL80's for dive rescue as that's what they want to see, but they have crappy buoyancy characteristics.
Hello David. First thing, get over to Vintage Scuba - Vintage Scuba Gear at Vintage Double Hose and do a bunch of reading. There is a wealth of information to be had there. For your first double hose reg I would recommend trying to find a US Divers Royal Aqua Master or a DA Aqua Master...
https://vimeo.com/8556402 Here's a little video I did with my DivAir. Note; Jerry Moseman is no longer making diaphragms for them. Too bad to, he did some nice work.

The DivAir has a chance to get back in the water, but as it's a last generation plastic body there's some big "IFS" that go with that. The new owner would have to make a diaphragm for it. As this reg used a bellows type diaphragm, that's not too hard to do. It's a single stage reg with only a...
Lannon is so full of goose poo you could walk across it now. Big Cedar has possibilities. I have dove it in spring and fall when the clarity is a little better. Inland lakes in summer tend to get pea green though. Lots of boat traffic too. Harrington Beach state park has a decent shore dive...
Fortune Pond where this was shot is located just out side of Crystal Falls, which is about 30 miles West of Iron Mountain. More info can be found at Deep Six Scuba Dive Group Website. Look in the shore dives section of the web site.

Icewurst has now come and gone. It was lightly attended, but those who made the trek had a great time. We enjoyed sunny days in the 80's with low humidity and fantastic viz. I had some minor issues with my video camera, but I got enough footage to put a little video together that captures the...
I've dove Lake Michigan for many years and lived on it most of my life. Typically July will give the calmest conditions. That being said, every year is a little different. August can be great, or you can be blown off for most of the month. In the end Lake Michigan does what she wants.
Klein Scuba in Wausau or Green Bay are the closest for Crandon, I think. I second the motion on Fortune Pond. It well worth the trip up there. Here's a video I did on it a few years back. Fortune Pond, The Emerald of Upper Michigan on Vimeo Also on my Vimeo site There are other videos...
The Phoenix is a great addition to any 2 stage USD or Voit DH reg and opens a world of options. My personal recommendation is to read all you can on the use of DH regs and if possible, find someone to mentor you. That would shorten the learning curve a bunch. Vintage Scuba - Vintage Scuba...
