    The truth about gasket grease

Actually I don't know the truth, I am seeking it. I have a Recsea camera housing and Sea & Sea strobes. Each of these companies sells tiny tubes of silicon (I guess it is silicon) gasket sealant (grease) at outrageous prices. A salesman told me regarding the Recsea housing if you used another...

Brief encounter with hammerhead sharks - Red Sea

This was the first time I had ever seen hammerhead sharks in person. There were 5 hammerhead sharks swimming around below me so I made this movie. I followed them to a depth that was too deep which is why the background is so dark, fortunately I had no adverse reaction. http://youtu.be/EB2ERl1kykM

Palau diving vacation in late July or late August

We are going to diving on a live aboard around some of the islands of Indonesia from 8/8 to 8/18. Generally when we travel to Oceana we like to go to a couple of places. People have always mentioned Palau as a good dive location. Could anyone recommend a dive resort or dive shop there? My...

    Hard sided luggage

The suitcase that my wife was using was an old Samsonite leather suitcase that belonged to my father. It must be 20 years old. Anyway when it came back it had a couple of holes in it that someone had taped up. I appreciate everyone's input here. We were in Baltimore last weekend and visited a...

    Hard sided luggage

It wasn't so much for damage issues, but a bit for security. Boxy hardside luggage is a bit easier to handle that floppy soft luggage if you have a couple of bags, in my opinion. I took a look on line at the Eagle Creek duffles and they look like they have rigid backs, so I will consider them...

Dive Log, Mac Dive, Dive Log Manager... I'm lost.

I have a MacBook Pro and you might consider my simple solution. I dual boot with Windows, so when I want to down load dive information - no problem I do it in Windows. I have a ScubaPro dive computer and the software works great that comes with it. This is a much simpler solution that what...

    Hard sided luggage

I was looking for someone to say something very specific, like, "I have this piece and I love it." I live in the super boonies and all you see is general purpose luggage in the stores here. In that sense I wish I lived in Chicago, or LA. I can see the type of luggage you mention on line...

    Hard sided luggage

For the last few years I have come to view luggage as just another cost of a trip, If it last for a few trips, great. We just got back from Curacao and my wife's diving suitcase is shot, so we need another one and a matched pair would be nice. However there must be a better way. I am looking...

    Diving in Saba?

We are staying at Juliana's rather than Julia's and diving with Sea Saba - very professional organization. We just finished a night dive at Tent Reef - a lot of fun.

    Diving in Saba?

It is quite a unique place, I wll let you know what we found. What is surprising is that posted the same thing on a tractor forum that I participate in, and got more information there, than here (none). Looks like it is going downhill a bit.

Roatan dive advice for first timer

Just got back from a week on Roatan. We stayed at Fantasy Island and dove with their dive operation. We were very satisfied. Here is a short clip of the shark dive movies that I made. It was a lot of fun. Everyone seemed pleased: YouTube - Caribbean reef sharks

    Anyone diving from Saudi Arabia?

Thanks for the heads up guys. I am still going to check out getting a visa, but I will work on alternate plans.

    Anyone diving from Saudi Arabia?

I ran into a pilot who worked for the Saudi government for a couple of years. His wife was a scuba diver and he said she dived form a site in Saudi Arabia and the virtue was that it wasn't crowded and the diving was good, but it was difficult to get a visa. Anyone care to comment? My wife...

    Sardine Run

Well, I have to report that the Sardine Run adventure with the SEAL organization was a success, from my point of view. We were able to launch on 9 of the 10 diving days. We saw four bait balls on about 50 trips into the water and one was exceptional. On this occasion, the Cape gannets were...
