    Doing AN/DP with FFM, Realistic?

In my experience, not even remotely realistic. There was a metric ton of gas sharing, lost mask, gas switches, and gas failures in my class. Wearing a FFM would be a detriment to the experience. Something as simple as losing a mask would also mean that you lost your gas.

    5 years!

I just moved from a Meg to a sidewinder. The main reason is that the sidewinder suites my diving more - which is mostly cave tourist and some exploration. I’ve also got a bad taste in my mouth for electronics issues from the meg15 head, so I was happy to move to a fully mechanical unit. The...

How do you stay inspired as a technical diver?

Discovery - contributing something positive to science, understanding, and general knowledge base. Learning - enhancing my current skill, learning a new skill (I'm going to learn underwater photogrammetry this year) Visual - seeing/creating imagery of talented/highly skilled people in places...

Some friends and I recently went to Mexico to do some cave diving. I created a short video of some of the dives. The video was shot with a Sony RX100 IV in a Fantasea Housing and Big Blue VL3500 video lights.

Are rebreathers getting safer over time?

As somebody who is pretty new to rebreathers (I have about 20 hours), I will say that they haven't gotten safer. They add a tremendous task load to the diver and team. You have be extremely good in your situational awareness. On OC, you go from monitoring your buoyancy, self, work load...

Opinions on A1 Scuba's tech program

Is there a particular reason why you're specifically wanting a PADI tec course? Speak to the instructors in the area. Find the ones that are actively diving - for fun - at the rating that they are certified to teach at. Find one that you mesh well with, personality wise, and go with them. Rob...

Any interest diving Rock Lake in NM?

Have you already worked out the dates with the land owner or are you planning on tagging along with a local group that dives the spring often? I ask because the land owner is notoriously difficult to get a hold of and it would suck to go all that way be denied because of not getting a hold of...

Sidemount diving in the Denver area?

Flatirons Scuba and Ocean First Divers are the two shops that I've had experience with. Both are top notch and very professional shops. There are several lakes that are dove in the summer. However, I believe that most tend to go to Blue Hole or Crater lake, due to visibility. My experience with...

    Reason for Taking Fundies

I took Fundamentals in 2007 and that DIR mindset has progressed with me through Technical and Cave diving. The procedures, the team aspect, and the ability to think logically through problems are the key aspects. I've recently started to do some sidemount diving (likely with those individuals...

Cannot Remain Submerged for 50' Breath Hold Swim

Take three deep breaths to help purge your body of CO2. On the last exhale, duck underwater and start a slow, deliberate, and steady swim. You don't need a lung full of air for a breath hold. :) Have fun in class! Rob was a good instructor!
