In my experience, not even remotely realistic. There was a metric ton of gas sharing, lost mask, gas switches, and gas failures in my class. Wearing a FFM would be a detriment to the experience. Something as simple as losing a mask would also mean that you lost your gas.
I just moved from a Meg to a sidewinder. The main reason is that the sidewinder suites my diving more - which is mostly cave tourist and some exploration. I’ve also got a bad taste in my mouth for electronics issues from the meg15 head, so I was happy to move to a fully mechanical unit.

What is the N 19091 Lubricant referenced in this Bauer Filter Cartridge replacement video? Google is failing me on this one. The Googles keeps referring me to compressor oil.
Some friends and I recently went to Mexico to do some cave diving. I created a short video of some of the dives.
The video was shot with a Sony RX100 IV in a Fantasea Housing and Big Blue VL3500 video lights.
We scootered upstream Nohoch Nah Chich the last day as our "short" dive before heading home. We plan on scootering from Nohoch Nah Chich to Blue Abyss next time. :)
As somebody who is pretty new to rebreathers (I have about 20 hours), I will say that they haven't gotten safer. They add a tremendous task load to the diver and team. You have be extremely good in your situational awareness.

Flatirons Scuba and Ocean First Divers are the two shops that I've had experience with. Both are top notch and very professional shops. There are several lakes that are dove in the summer. However, I believe that most tend to go to Blue Hole or Crater lake, due to visibility. My experience with...
I took Fundamentals in 2007 and that DIR mindset has progressed with me through Technical and Cave diving. The procedures, the team aspect, and the ability to think logically through problems are the key aspects. I've recently started to do some sidemount diving (likely with those individuals...
Take three deep breaths to help purge your body of CO2. On the last exhale, duck underwater and start a slow, deliberate, and steady swim. You don't need a lung full of air for a breath hold. :)
Have fun in class! Rob was a good instructor!
