Dive sites are already open on the East Coast. Weather and conditions are always variable but some of the best diving is from April to June with visibility up to 30m. Tioman and Tenggol are good options with easy access back to KL after; Perhentian and Redang are a little further north and...
I use a Teric with a Crest CR4 as a backup - this is the same as the Genesis Centauri or Deep6 Excursion prior to the (major) recent software upgrade. It was about $200 at the time I bought it but is now about $285. Runs Buhlmann without gradient factors so is a good backup. I was glad to have...
I had an issue with my i770r not charging out of the box. It wasn't the cable and turned out to be a fault with the dive computer itself. It was eventually replaced by Aqualung after a wait of nearly 4 months.
Aqualung Core Supreme. Small, sealed, light, breathes very well and with ACD you can just rinse them off and not worry about salt buildup in the first stage - ideal when diving on vacation. Worldwide service and parts availability but as others have said carrying a spare makes more sense - or...
Could be worse. My Aqualung was faulty before I ever dived it (wouldn’t charge) and 3 months later Aqualung HQ haven’t responded to the local distributor. And I’m not the only one, according to them.
You'd have to ask the individual school, most classes are 1:4 to 1:6. I suspect it would be around double. You may of course be lucky - my brother had 1:1 instruction for his AOW as he was the only one signed up that weekend.
Wow. An open water course at a reputable dive centre here in Malaysia costs under US$450, including equipment rental and 3 nights' stay at a (fairly basic) resort - breakfast included.
Most dive sites on the East Coast of Malaysia now close at the end of October or even early November - certainly Tioman and Tenggol, from personal experience. Conditions are a little more challenging and visibility is lower, but still decent.
Money changers at the airport would be my last choice, with those in tourist areas a close second.
The best way I've found is to use a fee free travel debit card - in the UK there are Starling, Monzo and Revolut among others, I'm pretty sure there are equivalents in the US. Transfer money from...
In my dive group we have a pair each of Aqualung Legends and Core Supremes. If I were buying again I'd save the money and get the Cores instead of the Legends - they breath just as well and are much lighter and more compact. I don't miss the adjustment knob on the second stage at all when using...
Absolutely no warning, everything seemed fine pre dive and during the early part of the dive. I looked at the Teric about 30 minutes in and the screen was blank. I did still get some alerts so it would appear that it was functioning to some extent. The display came back on around the safety stop...
My Journeys Edition Teric failed on the first dive I used it on yesterday, the screen went dead. I’m sending it to the APAC service centre in New Zealand for repair / replacement.
Just to share my own experiences with some of the computers mentioned above: I have (well, had) an Aqualung i770r and a Teric. The i770r has great battery life (12 dives over 4 days and battery life barely dropped 10%). The screen is good but can be difficult to read if not at the right angle...
Urologist here. You need a comprehensive evaluation including urodynamic studies (not just a flow rate) by a subspecialist who has an interest in functional urology, ideally someone who has a link to a spinal injuries unit as they would have the most experience with something like this. If you...
